Biography
Wenzel Grundwas born in Prague and has lived in Switzerland since 1969. He studied with Kurt Weber at the Conservatory for Music in Berne (teaching and soloist diplomas) and rounded off his training with studies with Prof. Jost Michaels, Karl Leister and Prof. Siegfried Palm. During this time he was first clarinetist with the Junge Schweizer Philharmonie, with the Zurich International Opera Studio and later in other professional ensembles. .
Wenzel Grund has dedicated himself exclusively to a career as a soloist and chamber musician for a number of years. He was a member of the “Swiss Clarinet Players” and currently performs with the clarinet ensemble “ClarinArt”. Wenzel Grund plays regularly in duo with piano and as a frequent guest with eminent ensembles, such as the Smetana-Trio, Dolezal string quartet, Euler quartet, Stamitz quartet, Bennewitz quartet. He has made numerous recordings for radio, television and CD and has performed the premiere of many contemporary compositions. In addition to this, Wenzel Grund is a teacher at the Swiss Academy for Music and Music Pedagogy SAMP and acts as a jury member at international music competitions. .
